Envoy Fiber

Connectivity guide

How to compare business internet options

Compare access technology, performance, service levels, and total commercial commitments—not just the advertised speed.

Start with what the connection must support

List the applications, users, devices, and operating hours at the location. Video meetings, cloud backups, voice, and large file transfers place different demands on a connection.

Download speed alone does not describe the experience. Upload capacity, latency, packet loss, and performance during busy periods can matter just as much.

Questions to take forward

  • Identify critical applications and concurrent usage.
  • Document upload needs and any static IP requirements.
  • Define the business impact of a service interruption.

Compare the service, not only the medium

Fiber describes a transmission medium; it does not by itself promise dedicated capacity or a particular service level. Business broadband and Dedicated Internet Access can have different capacity commitments and support terms.

Ask each provider to identify the access design, capacity commitments, service-level agreement, and exclusions in writing. A service credit is not the same thing as uninterrupted operation.

Questions to take forward

  • Confirm committed versus advertised bandwidth.
  • Review performance measurement and service-credit conditions.
  • Ask about support hours, escalation, and equipment responsibilities.

Review the complete commitment

Compare recurring charges alongside installation, construction, equipment, taxes, and other applicable fees. Check the initial term, renewal language, cancellation conditions, and service-change rules.

Serviceability and installation timing require provider confirmation for the specific address, building, and suite. Do not treat a coverage map or preliminary quote as a confirmed installation date.

Questions to take forward

  • Request a written breakdown of recurring and one-time costs.
  • Confirm construction, site access, and landlord dependencies.
  • Keep the current service until the replacement is tested and the transition is approved.
