Connectivity guide

A connectivity checklist for a new location

Bring address qualification, site access, installation dependencies, and acceptance testing into the opening plan.

Qualify the exact location early

Collect the full address, suite, intended occupancy date, and building contact before requesting options. A nearby network does not establish serviceability inside the premises.

Ask providers about engineering review, construction, permitting, and building-entry requirements. Preliminary timing should remain a planning assumption until the provider confirms it.

Questions to take forward

  • Confirm the address and suite format.
  • Identify the landlord or facility contact.
  • Record the opening date and any acceptable interim service requirements.

Assign the work on both sides of the handoff

Provider installation and internal network readiness are different workstreams. Confirm the demarcation point—the boundary between provider service and customer-side infrastructure—and who will connect it to the network.

Coordinate power, equipment space, cabling, access permissions, and an onsite contact. Do not assume the provider installation includes LAN cabling, Wi-Fi coverage, or firewall configuration.

Questions to take forward

  • Assign cabling, power, equipment, and access responsibilities.
  • Confirm delivery and installation contacts.
  • Track each dependency with an owner and a confirmed status.

Test before the opening depends on it

Agree on acceptance criteria for the connection and the applications it must support. Test voice, payment systems, remote access, and other critical workflows with the responsible teams.

Where continuity matters, plan an interim or backup option with its own coverage, capacity, and security review. A second connection is not useful if it cannot support the necessary operations.

Questions to take forward

  • Schedule application and connectivity acceptance checks.
  • Record provider support and escalation contacts.
  • Document the service details and any unresolved limitations.
